House Concerts & Programs

What is a house concert?

A house concert is an acoustic concert in a home, apartment, rec room, barn, lawn, garden, or back yard.  The host, who opens their home for the concert, invites their friends, family, and/or coworkers to enjoy an evening filled with acoustic music in an intimate setting.  The concert is for designed for a listening atmosphere and allows the musician and audience to get to know one another through the songs, stories, and conversation.

How Does It Work?

  • As the host, you invite however many people can comfortably sit in the room or space available. This can be as little as 4 or as many as you like.
  • You choose the length of the concert. Anywhere from 45 – 90 minutes is recommended.
  • Set an arrival time, with the concert usually starting 30 minutes after the arrival time. This gives everyone a chance to mingle a bit before the concert starts.
  • Adding a potluck to the evening can add to the fun!  Ask everyone to bring their favorite dish and beverage.
  • If you or your friends also play music, you might find it enjoyable to invite them to bring their guitars to have a song circle to close out the evening.
  • As the host, you choose whether you want to sell tickets or set up a donations jar.

ADDITIONAL PROGRAM AVAILABLE UPON REQUEST:

Peace and the Common Thread Program

This interactive musical and educational program teaches participants to see just how much we have in common with one another while at the same time learning to celebrate our differences. Together we decorate a Peace Pole using songs, objects, colors, and water-weaving. This is a great program/concert to hold outside (weather permitting). Limited to 8 participants.
